Lodge 79 Corpus Christi reports on January meeting

Our first meeting of 2004 started with a very small turnout. I want to remind our members that our meetings are as they have always been – the third Sunday each month at 2 p. m. at Sokol Hall.Try and make the next meetings, okay? Thanks.
Many events are coming up starting with the state awards banquet on February 28 in Cyclone. Our lodge met its quota, thus´ we will receive a nice bonus.
On March 14, we are hosting the District Seven Spring Meeting. At this meeting, we will honor fie Mr. and Mrs. couples with the Lifetime Achievment Awards given by the SPJST to members for their support over the years. This eyear, we will honor the following couples: George and Ruth Marek; W. L. and Daisy Hermis; Frank and Susan Sacky; Charlie and Judy Majek; and Marcus and Virginia Rebecek.
We will have a catered dinner at the District Seven Spring Meeting, but a lot of help will e needed.
Next, in April, we will have our own awards dinner. It will aso be catered. We have many Everyday Hero pins which will be awarded along with some surprises.
Then in June, the convention will take place. It is at the convention that we can change things, add, take away, or modify. So, start thinking about what is needed to improve our SPJST.
Also, during spring, many lodges are having their annual fund raisers so we have a lot going for us.
Lodge 79 wants to thank State Fraternal Activities Coordinator Gladys Yates for coming to South Texas to help get our paper work in order. Thanks again, Gladys.
We are also asking our members to help our sales reps with leads, so spread the word around about our SPJST.
Our "No Bake – Bake Sale" is doing great. It is our fifth annual sale. All money received goes to various needy organizations. So if you haven´t mailed yours in, take pen in hand and do it now.
In closing, I wish all good gealth in 2004.
Sincerely,
Jerry Elzner, Fraternal Activities CoordinatorSPJST
