Johnny Vacek…

John R. Vacek, 94, resident of Dickinson, Texas, passed away March 30, 2013 in Webster, Texas. He was born August 27, 1918 in East Bernard, Texas to parents, John J. Vacek and Mary Vacek. He graduated from University of Texas with a Pharmaceutical Degree, and served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a Silver Star recipient. He was a member of Shrine of the True Cross Catholic Church. John was also an Honorary Member and Benefactor of the Dickinson Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and worked as pharmaceutical salesman for Abbott Laboratories of Southeast Texas, and a Charter Member of the La Marque Elks Club. He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Vacek; and survived by his brother Al Vacek and wife Marie; and numerous nieces and nephews.; and longtime friend and caregiver, Juanita Quezada.

Vystudoval na univerzitě farmakologii. Byl členem americké armády, během druhé světové války obdržel vyznamenání Silver Star. Byl též členem katolické církve True Cross a čestným členem a podporovatelem místního sdružení dobrovolných hasičů, členem organizace Knights of Columbus. Byl zaměstnán v Abbott laboratořích.

When I visited Texas a few years ago, the Snokhouses drove me one day  for a nice outing to Kemah to a pleasant restaurant  on the water. On the way we planned to pick up Johnny Vacek...  After some wanderings from street to street and many cell phone calls we finaly found each other and had a good lunch. I saw that Johnny was also agood architect, project manager a very pleasant companion . And now I received this sad news...

Když jsem byla před pár lety v Texasu, manželé Snokhousovi mne jednoho dne vzali na hezký výlet do Kemah, kde je milá restaurace na vodě a cestou jsme se stavili pro Johnnyho Vacka. Bylo to legrační bloudění od ulice k ulici a volání do mobilů...ale nakonec jsme se všichni našli a jeli na dobrý oběd. A já jsem chápala, že Johnny byl úžasně šikovný architekt a projektant...a milý společník. Nyní jsem se dozvěděla smutnou zprávu...
